{"id":9606,"date":"2018-08-04T19:19:52","date_gmt":"2018-08-04T19:19:52","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/daynajcollins.com\/curele\/?p=9606"},"modified":"2018-08-04T19:19:52","modified_gmt":"2018-08-04T19:19:52","slug":"press-play-salem","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/daynacollinsblog.com\/curele\/?p=9606","title":{"rendered":"Press Play Salem"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><em><strong>Every once in a delightful while you come across an individual who is so apologetically bold and creatively daring in how they live and work and play that you cannot help but feel inspired by their vivacious presence and vibrant energy.\u00a0<\/strong>\u00a0<\/em>\u00a0 Jessica Murdoch<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-9601 aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/daynajcollins.com\/curele\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/08\/IMG_4049-258x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"258\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/daynacollinsblog.com\/curele\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/08\/IMG_4049-258x300.jpg 258w, https:\/\/daynacollinsblog.com\/curele\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/08\/IMG_4049.jpg 551w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 258px) 100vw, 258px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>I was invited by Carlee Wright, publisher and editor, and Jessica Murdoch, co-editor and writer, to be featured in the <em>second issue of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/pressplaysalem\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">Press Play Salem<\/span><\/strong><\/a>, an arts + entertainment + culture magazine focusing on the people, places, and things to do in Oregon&#8217;s beautiful capital city, Salem.\u00a0<\/em>How could I refuse, it was such an honor.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" wp-image-9607 aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/daynajcollins.com\/curele\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/08\/IMG_3324-300x254.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"304\" height=\"257\" srcset=\"https:\/\/daynacollinsblog.com\/curele\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/08\/IMG_3324-300x254.jpg 300w, https:\/\/daynacollinsblog.com\/curele\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/08\/IMG_3324.jpg 640w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 304px) 100vw, 304px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Carlee came to our July<em> Art After Dark Open Studios<\/em> at <em>The Studios at Mission Mill<\/em>, where I have my Special Projects Studio, and shot some photos of me for the article. Then Jessica sent me a series of questions to answer &#8211; a LOT of questions &#8211; and I wrote and wrote and wrote, wondering how she would ever decipher everything and boil it down into an article. But she did. Amazingly well, I might add.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-9612 aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/daynajcollins.com\/curele\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/08\/IMG_4085-236x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"236\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/daynacollinsblog.com\/curele\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/08\/IMG_4085-236x300.jpg 236w, https:\/\/daynacollinsblog.com\/curele\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/08\/IMG_4085.jpg 503w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 236px) 100vw, 236px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>I ran downtown on July 31 and picked up a stack of copies. I spread them out the next day and shot this photo. But I didn&#8217;t read the article. I really didn&#8217;t. I was too nervous. Two days later, I finally decided I would read what Jessica had written. I read it out loud to Howard, choking up a bit as I read. How could this article be about me? But there it was, a beautifully written expose of how I live my life and the art I make.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-9601 aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/daynajcollins.com\/curele\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/08\/IMG_4049-258x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"258\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/daynacollinsblog.com\/curele\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/08\/IMG_4049-258x300.jpg 258w, https:\/\/daynacollinsblog.com\/curele\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/08\/IMG_4049.jpg 551w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 258px) 100vw, 258px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The next day, we met our son and two granddaughters for lunch at <a href=\"http:\/\/www.taprootloungeandcafe.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">Taproot<\/span><\/a><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">,<\/span> where there was a huge stack of <strong>Press Play Salem<\/strong>. I grabbed a couple to show Scott, just as Avery grabbed crayons and colored over my face. The woman is &#8212; in a word&#8211;colorful. She is a kaleidoscope of personality and spontaneity.
